Firefighters extinguish rubbish truck fire in Jerrabomberra

Firefighters have extinguished a fire that started inside a garbage truck this afternoon.

At approximately 1.30pm, NSW and ACT fire services responded to reports of a truck fire on Ferdinand Lane.

Upon arrival they located a rubbish truck which had already unloaded a load of burning recycling material onto a cleared area.

NSW Fire and Rescue attended the scene and brought the fire under control.

The scene was then handed over to the NSW Rural Fire Service for final extinguishment cleanup.

ACT Fire and Rescue attended the scene but were not required.
