Firefighters have extinguished a car fire in Ainslie early this morning.

At about 5am, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a car fire on Calvert Street.

Firefighters arrived to find a sedan well alight in the street and quickly extinguished it.

There were no persons found in vicinity of the vehicle.

ACT Policing attended the scene and are investigating the incident.

Calvert Street was closed for about an hour until the scene was cleared.
