'Suspicious package' shuts down part of the City
An area of the city was sealed off to the public this morning after a suspicious package was located on London Circuit.
Police created an exclusion zone which included parts of London Circuit, University Avenue, and Knowles Place.
The police bomb squad was called to investigate with a specialised robot used to examine the item.
The item of interest appeared to be in the courtyard between the Reserve Bank and the City Police Station
Police from the Tactical Response and Bomb Response Teams examined the item, which had some wiring attached, and found no threat to public safety.
The public were asked to avoid the area until the area was deemed safe just before 2pm.
Investigations are ongoing.
