Police seek witnesses after log causes motorcycle crash in Ngunnawal

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses or dash-cam footage of a collision in Ngunnawal last week, caused by a wooden log left on the road.

20-year-old man charged following shooting incident in Coree

A 20-year-old man has been charged following an incident in Coree yesterday.

Around 4.30pm (Saturday, 11 January 2025), the man was in company with four other men known to him. Police will allege that following a verbal disagreement, the man retrieved a firearm and used it to shoot at the four men multiple times.

The four men then fled the scene and were able to hide and dial 000. Police arrived a short time later and commenced an operation to rescue the men, and locate and arrest the alleged offender.

During the operation police located the four men on the property and moved them to safety. None of the males were injured in the incident.

Just after 10.00pm police located the alleged offender riding a quad bike attempting to exit the property and he was subsequently arrested.

The 20-year-old arrested has been charged with four counts of discharging a loaded firearm causing a person fear.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Firefighters have contained a bushfire just north of the ACT Border on the Federal Highway this afternoon.

75-year-old female dies following crash at Kambah shops

A 75-year-old woman has died following a single vehicle collision in Kambah today.

About 10.20am this morning (Monday, 23 December 2024), police and emergency services responded to reports of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian in a carpark on Marconi Crescent in Kambah.

ACT Ambulance Service paramedics treated two people at the scene, one of which was the 75-year-old female driver of the vehicle involved in the incident. She was transported to hospital in a critical condition however, she was declared deceased a short time later. The pedestrian received only minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

ACT Policing’s Major Collision Team is investigating the complicated circumstances of this incident.

This incident brings the 2024 ACT Road Toll to 11.
