Truck catches fire following crash at Bookham, NSW

A truck has caught fire after its believed it collided with a guard rail and rolled near Bookham, NSW this afternoon.

At approximately 2.45pm NSW Emergency Services responded to reports of a truck crash in the Northbound lanes on the Hume Highway between Gundagai and Yass.

The truck driver managed to escape the vehicle before it burst into flames sending thick black smoke into the air.

The fire has since been brought under control and fire crews are conducting salvage and overhaul operations.

Extended delays remain in the area.
