Emergency Services respond to Hazmat incident in Queanbeyan West

An exclusion zone was established following a Hazmat incident in Queanbeyan West yesterday afternoon.

At about 2.50pm yesterday Emergency Services responded to reports of a HAZMAT incident involving an explosive chemical in an industrial area on Bayldon Road.

Police and NSW Fire and Rescue established an exclusion zone of 100m as a precaution, with adjoining businesses evacuated.

Following investigations by NSW Police and NSW Fire and Rescue the AFP Bomb Squad were called in to make the area safe.
The exclusion zone was lifted just before 7.30pm.

A NSW Police Spokesperson said there will be no further action in relation to the incident.
