Two-storey home destroyed in Hawker
Firefighters have extinguished a house fire in Hawker overnight.
At approximately 8.45pm ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a house fire on Florina Place.
Upon arrival they located a two-storey residence alight with fire extension through the roof on the second floor.
A number of firefighters from across the Belconnen region responded to the scene and worked quickly to prevent the spread into the rest of the home.
An aerial firefighting appliance was brought in to attack the fire from above as parts of the roof collapsed.
The fire was reported to be under control at about at about 10.30pm.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is being investigated.
ACT Policing were also in attendance.
