Siege ends peacefully in Belconnen

Heavily armed police swarmed on a carpark in Belconnen this afternoon.

ACT Policing responded to Emu Bank at about 1.30pm this afternoon.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said that there was a police operation at Emu Bank, and that there was no threat to the safety of the wider community.

Transport Canberra said the Belconnen Community Interchange had been closed and bus services had been forced to divert around the area.

The situation has since been resolved at about 4.15pm and the area has been opened back up to the public.

All transport services have returned to normal.
