A solar battery is believed to be the cause of a fire in Campbell this evening.
At approximately 4.45pm ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a house fire on Rosenthal Street.
Upon arrival firefighters found toxic smoke coming from the rear of the home, the area was quickly evacuated, and nearby residents were asked to stay indoors.
The fire was contained quickly and further damage to the home was prevented.
Firefighters entered nearby homes to check for any poisonous gases, the houses were cleared and and residents were allowed to return.
Firefighters are expected to stay on scene monitoring for any flareups overnight.
