Man dies following single vehicle crash in Jerrabomberra
A man has died following a single-car crash in Jerrabomberra.
Just after 6pm (Saturday 2nd October 2021) ACT and NSW Emergency Services responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash on Lanyon Drive just north of Tompsitt Drive.
Emergency Services arrived on scene to find the male driver of a black Renault Magane in the middle of the road ejected from the vehicle.
ACT and NSW Ambulance Service Paramedics worked to stabilise the man at the scene, he was transported to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.
Police have said the man is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged 25.
Officers from Monaro Police District attended and established a crime scene.
NSW Police have advised OnScene ACT that the vehicle was allegedly stolen at the time of the crash, however they had not yet established if the deceased person was involved in the reported theft.
They also stated that the vehicle was not being pursued.
As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone who saw the vehicle prior to the crash – or who may have dashcam footage from the area – to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
