Firefighters contain fire inside a clothes dryer in Kambah

Firefighters have contained a fire inside a clothes dryer in Kambah this afternoon.

At approximately 4.40pm ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a house fire on Ashby Circuit.

Firefighters arrived quickly on scene and contained a fire inside a clothes dryer in the home.

The dryer was removed into the backyard and the home was ventilated.

One person was treated by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics for smoke inhalation but did not require transport to hospital.

The ACT ESA has listed some simple actions on their website that you can take to reduce the risk of fire when using the dryer.

Clean the lint filter regularly and follow manufacturer’s instructions for use.

Switch off the dryer when you leave your house.

Keep the dryer clear of flammable material, and make sure it is well ventilated and do not overload the dryer
