Police investigate fatal crash in Melba overnight
Police are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash that occurred in Melba yesterday
At approximately 5.30pm ACT Emergency Services responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash on Kingsford Smith Drive, Melba.
ACT Road Policing officers, ACT Ambulance Service paramedics and ACT Fire & Rescue firefighters attended the scene, and upon arrival confirmed the driver of the car was deceased, and the passenger had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said initial investigations revealed that the car, which had been travelling southbound, had crossed the median strip, and the northbound carriageway, before colliding with a tree.
ACT Road Policing’s Major Crash Team is investigating into the collision, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
