Firefighters extinguish fire inside Gungahlin restaurant

Firefighters have extinguished a fire inside a Gungahlin restaurant this afternoon.

At approximately 5.30pm ACT Fire and Rescue received numerous calls to a fire inside a restaurant on Hibberson Street opposite the Light Rail Stop.

Firefighters arrived to find fire in the kitchen of the restaurant with fire extension through the ventilation system.

Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring businesses.

Several roads in the area were closed as a significant number of firefighting resources responded to the scene.

ACT Policing and ACT Ambulance Service were in attendance.

There were no reports of any serious injures.
