BBQ sparks fire in Kambah backyard
Firefighters have contained a fire in the backyard of a Kambah home this afternoon.
At approximately 6.45pm ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a house fire on Faithfull Circuit.
Upon arrival they located fire in the backyard of a home threating an adjoining garage.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it could cause any further damage.
A spokesperson for the ACT Emergency Services Agency said, 'a man had been attempting to use a BBQ in the backyard when a flashover occurred, burning his face.'
The spokesperson said, 'the man attempted to isolate the fuel source from the BBQ before seeking medical treatment from a nearby chemist, he returned to the home a short time later to find the fire with neighbours attempting to extinguish it'
The man was treated at the scene by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics for minor facial burns but did not require transport to hospital.
ACT Policing were also in attendance.
