A house in Murrumbateman has been destroyed following a fire this afternoon.

Just before 3pm, NSW Emergency Services responded to reports of a house alight on Vallance Drive.

Upon arrival firefighters found the home well alight with a grass fire spreading to neighbouring properties.

Crews from Fire Rescue NSW and the NSW Rural Fire Service contained the fire to the property preventing further spread to neighbouring homes.

The house which was unoccupied at the time was completely destroyed.

There were no reports of injury.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
