Man suffers significant burns following house fire in Karabar

A man has been significantly burned following a house fire in Karabar this evening.

At about 7.45pm ACT and NSW Emergency Services were called to Boronia Crescent, Karabar, following reports of a house fire.

First arriving firefighters reported a house well alight with fire threatening adjoining homes

The fire was quickly contained by Fire Rescue NSW and ACT Fire and Rescue and will continue to be extinguished into the night. 

A NSW Police Spokesperson said a male occupant was able to self-evacuate and was located suffering burns to his arms and legs. 

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Canberra Hospital with significant burns.

A crime scene was established by officers from Monaro Police District, which will be examined by specialist forensic police. 

Police have said an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire, including the cause, is underway.
