Man charged following 5 hour standoff in Canberra's East
A man has been charged following a 5-hour standoff in Oaks Estate last night.
At about 4.30pm, ACT Policing were called to River Road following reports a man was engaging other residents while holding a knife.
Police attended the scene and the man retreated into his home and a cordon was established.
AFP Negotiators engaged with the man for several hours before he surrendered peacefully at about 9.40pm.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said, the man was taken into custody and charged with breaching a good behaviour order and possess offensive weapon with intent.
