Female stabbed following alleged carjacking in Belconnen

A female has suffered a stab wound following an alleged carjacking in Belconnen this morning.

At about 11.30am, ACT Policing responded to reports of an aggravated robbery in the top level of the multi-story car park of a Belconnen Westfield.

An ACT Policing spokesperson has said police allege a 26-year-old man attacked a woman with a knife before stealing a white Mazda BT50 ute. During the altercation, the woman suffered a stab wound to the arm, and was transported to hospital.

A crime scene was established with forensic police examining the scene this afternoon.

The stolen vehicle was subsequently sighted a short time later in Braddon, and the man was arrested about 11.50am in Ainslie following a short foot pursuit.

The man was charged with aggravated robbery, intentionally wound a person, knife possession, two counts of failing to stop for police, two counts of dangerous driving and drive while disqualified. He is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow.
