Police investigate several suspicious fires across Canberra's north

ACT Policing has commenced an investigation into several fires across Canberra's north overnight.

-At about 9.20pm, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a house fire on Drake Crescent in Ainslie, upon arrival they located a tree on fire, the fire was quickly contained and extinguished.

-At about 9.40pm, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a car fire on Doonkuna Street in Braddon, two fire trucks and several police attended the scene, the car was extinguished an hour later.

-At about 10pm, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a car fire on Amaroo Street in Reid, the car was located in a private car park and was quickly extinguished by firefighters.

-At about 10.20pm ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a car fire on Constitution Avenue in Parkes, the car was located in an open dirt carpark well alight with fire spreading into a tree, firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

 Acting Inspector Max Mokrij from ACT Policing said witnesses reported seeing a person on a motorbike leaving each of the incident scenes.

ACT Policing is asking residents in Reid, Braddon and Ainslie to check CCTV footage and dashcams from between 9.30pm and 10.30pm last night for footage of suspicious persons or a motorbike.
