Firefighters extinguish fire at recycling facility in Hume

Firefighters have extinguished a fire at a recycling facility in Hume this afternoon.

At about 3.30pm, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire on Sawmill Circuit.

Firefighters arrived to find large amounts of smoke coming from a large commercial structure containing cardboard and other materials.

Firefighters quickly contained the fire to the area of origin with the support of several trucks and an aerial firefighting appliance.

All persons had safely evacuated from the building with no reports of serious injury.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
