19-year-old man dies following crash on Tuggeranong Parkway

A man has died following a crash in Kambah overnight.

Police say they received reports that an orange coloured Holden Commadore had been driven dangerously throughout Canberra.

Police made multiple attempts to intercept the car in several suburbs, the driver failed to stop on each occasion.

Just before 10.30pm a car believed to be matching that description collided with a street sign and light post on the median strip on the Tuggeranong Parkway just north of the Sulwood Drive intersection.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services the 19-Year-Old male died at the scene, three other passengers were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Due to the circumstances leading up the collision the incident is being treated as an AFP Critical Incident and police actions prior to the crash will be examined and investigated, members involved were subjected to drug and alcohol testing last night.  

Police have denied that they were pursuing the car at any time during the night at this stage.

ACT Policing’s major collision team are investigating the circumstances of the collision and a report will be made for the corner.
