Man dies following collision on Kings Highway

A 38-year-old man has died after he was hit by a car in Queanbeyan East overnight.

Just after 8pm NSW emergency services were called to the intersection of Hill Lane and Kings Highway, Queanbeyan East, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

NSW Police said they were told that a male pedestrian was walking in the middle of the road in the dark, before being struck from behind by a passing vehicle.

Despite the efforts of police and paramedics and bystanders the man died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not physically injured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established at the location and the highway was closed for several hours.

Inspector Green said "never are these jobs easy" describing the situation as very sad for all persons involved.

Police are urging anyone with information, or dashcam footage from the area, to contact Queanbeyan Police Station on 

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
