Firefighters extinguish grass fire in Bowning

Firefighters have extinguished a grass fire in Bowning this afternoon

Just after 1pm NSW Rural Fire Service responded to reports of a running grass fire just off the Hume Highway near the intersection of Burley Griffin Way.

Firefighters arrived to find a 300m fire front in dry grass.

Firefighting conditions were difficult with one truck becoming bogged due to the soft ground.

The fire was contained just after 2pm and crews will remain on scene for a number of hours blacking out.

The area burnt was approximately 15 hectares and is believed to have started from farm machinery.
