Firefighters extinguish fire in basement of Franklin apartment block

Firefighters have extinguished a fire in Franklin this evening.

At approximately 6.20pm ACT Fire and Rescue were called to reports of a fire in an underground carpark on Flemington Road.

A commander along with three pumpers and breathing apparatus support responded to the scene

The fire was quickly contained to a vehicle in the carpark.

Several residents had self evacuated as a result of the fire and were allowed to return once ventilation operations were completed.

ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Policing were also in attendance.

There were no reports of serious injuries.
