63-year-old man charged following shooting at the Canberra International Airport
A 63-Year-Old man has been charged following a shooting at the The Canberra International Airport.
At approximately 1.30pm police were called to the Canberra Airport following reports of gunshots in the main terminal building.
Shortly after a man was taken into police custody.
The man is set to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Monday, 14 August 2022) where bail will be opposed.
He has been charged with discharging a firearm at a building, unlawful possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm near a person causing alarm.
The Canberra Airport terminal was evacuated as a precaution and a crime scene was established in the area of the shooting.
Canberra Airport returned to normal operations at about 5.00pm, with flights resuming shortly afterwards.
The man is set to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court charged with discharging a firearm at a building, unlawful possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm near a person causing alarm.
