Woman rescued after getting her arm stuck in drain in Crace

A woman has been rescued after getting her arm stuck in a drain in Crace this afternoon.

At about 2.45pm ACT Fire and Rescue and ACT Ambulance Service responded to reports of a person trapped in Ivory Street.

It's believed the woman went to retrieve something that her child dropped down the drain in a bathroom with her arm becoming stuck in the drain a short time later.

Firefighters used sledge hammers and cutting tools to remove the concrete slab outside the property in an attempt to free the woman’s arm.

The woman was freed just over two hours later, and she was transported to hospital in a stable condition.

During the height of the rescue several resources were tasked to the scene including two Fire Rescue Pumpers, a Technical Rescue Pod, one Commander from ACT Fire and Rescue, an Ambulance and an Ambulance Supervisor.
