One person injured after mobile phone catches fire inside Canberra childcare centre
One person has being injured after a mobile phone caught fire inside a childcare centre in Canberra's south this afternoon.
Just after 12pm ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a fire on Strickland Crescent in Deakin.
Upon arrival the childcare centre had already being evacuated and a man was receiving cold water treatment for burns to his hands.
He was then assessed by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics but did not require transport to hospital.
Paramedics assessed several other people at the scene but there were no other injuries.
An ACT ESA spokesperson said that the fire had not spread from the device.
Firefighters handed the scene back to the staff at the centre about an hour later.
