Police investigate building fire in Hackett overnight

ACT Policing have commenced an investigation into a building fire in Hackett overnight.

At about 4am, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire on Maitland Street.

Upon arrival they located a bin fire which had spread into the roof space of a building spreading quickly throughout the structure.

Firefighters worked quickly to gain access to the seat of the fire which was located inside the roof and prevent its further spread.

The fire was eventually brought under control at about 6am with several sheets of roofing removed to assist in extinguishing the fire.

The building sustained structural and smoke damage and ACT Policing have commenced an investigation into the incident.

Police are seeking to speak with anyone that witnessed people at the buildings prior to 4.20am today or anyone that has any information in relation to this incident.
