Woman rescued following suspicious house fire in Weetangera
A women was rescued from a burning home in Weetangera yesterday evening.
At about 7.30pm, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a house fire on Packer Street.
Upon arrival they located a two-storey home well alight with one person trapped inside.
Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire to rapidly gain access to the person who appeared to be trapped in a front room of the home.
She was assisted through a window and down a ladder by firefighters before being assessed by ACT Ambulance Service Paramedics and transported to hospital.
Another elderly lady was assisted from a granny flat at the rear of the property once it was safe to do so, she was also assessed by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics and transported to hospital.
The house sustained significant damage and the cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious.
