Severe storms impact the ACT bringing down trees on several homes
At least two people have been transported to hospital after a tree fell on top of a vehicle they were travelling in overnight.
At about 7pm, a severe storm moved in over the ACT bringing strong winds and frequent dangerous lightning.
The storm brought down trees right across Canberra with several homes and vehicles falling victim to the severe weather.
As of 13.00 Saturday 9th December the ACT SES had received more than 600 calls for assistance, with the majority of the calls being for tree damage.
The NSW SES has been brought in to assist in the storm damage cleanup.
Power was cut to more than 9000 customers mainly in the Belconnen area.
It's expected to take several days to clean up the damage with further severe weather possible today.
