Two rescued, one seriously injured following alleged DUI crash in Kambah

Two people have been rescued and three have been transported to hospital following a crash in Kambah overnight.

Just after 8pm, ACT Emergency Services responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Sulwood Drive and the Tuggeranong Parkway.

Upon arrival they located one vehicle alight which was quickly extinguished by ACT Fire and Rescue.

Two people were trapped in a small white SUV which sustained significant damage as a result of the crash.

Firefighters worked for over an hour to free the pair by removing several doors and the roof of the vehicle.

One person sustained serious injuries and was subsequently transported to hospital.

Two other people were also transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said a 73-year-old man returned a positive reading for alcohol. He was issued an immediate suspension notice and will face court at a later date.

ACT Policing’s Major Collison Team attended the scene and investigations are ongoing.
