Fire destroys several garages and a town house in Moncrieff

Fire has ripped through several garages and a townhouse in Moncrieff this afternoon.

At about 1.30pm, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire on Bernard Heinze Avenue.

Firefighters arrived to find several garages and a townhouse well alight.

More than 8 fire appliances responded to the scene, along with several units from ACT Policing and ACT Ambulance Service.

The fire was brought under control about an hour later with significant damage to the structure.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and is under investigation.

There were no reports of serious injuries.
