Home destroyed by fire in Latham

Firefighters have extinguished a house fire in Latham this afternoon.

Just after 2pm, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a house alight on Shand Place.

Firefighters arrived to find the second level of a home well alight with fire through the roof.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

Shand place was closed while firefighting operations were carried out, with nearby residents asked to close windows and doors.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.
