Occupants left devastated as fire rips through Lyneham home on Christmas Eve

A home has been extensively damaged by fire in Lyneham this afternoon.

At approximately 5.20pm ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a housefire on Cossington Smith Crescent.

Upon arrival they found a garage well alight with fire spreading into other parts of the home.

Explosions rang out throughout the suburb as a number of cars burned inside the garage further fueling the intense fire.

The fire was brought under control after an hour and there were no serious injuries reported.
