Woman rescued after being found clinging to a tree on the Murrumbidgee River
A Woman has been rescued after she was found clinging to a tree in the fast-moving flood waters of the Murrumbidgee River.
Just after 7.30pm ACT Emergency Services responded to reports of a woman trapped in floodwaters Kambah Pool.
Police officers arrived on scene first and quickly dived into the water to secure the woman to the tree preventing her from being swept away.
Firefighters then used throw bags and ropes to safely retrieve the woman from the water.
An ACT Emergency Services agency spokesperson said ACT Ambulance Service Paramedics treated and assessed the woman at the scene and she was not transported to hospital.
ACT State Emergency Service personnel were also on scene to support.
This comes as a reminder to the public Rivers, creeks and storm water drains can be fast moving and full of debris.
