Man dies following crash on William Hovell Drive

A young man has died following a crash between a car and a truck in Whitlam this morning.

At about 7am ACT Emergency Services responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash on William Hovell Drive just west of John Gorton Drive.

Despite the best efforts of emergency personnel the man believed to be in his 20's died at the scene.

The driver of that truck was assessed at the scene by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics, He was later conveyed to the Calvary Hospital for the taking of bloods for drug and alcohol testing.

ACT Policing's Major collision team is investigating the cause of the crash.

"Our message is consistent and has always been consistent." Acting Inspector Travis Miller said, "Slow down, drive to the conditions. Do not be distracted whilst operating a motor vehicle. And quite honestly, think of your family and arrive at your destination safely."
