Firefighters contain factory fire in Queanbeyan East

Firefighters have extinguished a factory fire in Queanbeyan East this afternoon.

At about 12.15pm, ACT and NSW Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire on Auroa Avenue.

Upon arrival they located a building well alight off Chapman Street.

Firefighters quickly got to work preventing further fire spread to adjoining buildings.

All persons were reported to have safely evacuated from the building prior to the arrival of emergency services.

A dog was reported missing but was later found safe and well.

The building that was fire affected suffered significant internal damage.

Several roads in the area were closed while firefighting operations were carried out.

The fire was brought under control about an hour later with no reports of injuries.
