85-year-old man dies following single vehicle crash on the Federal Highway

Update Monday 14th April 2025:
An 85-year-old Sydney man has become the third road fatality for 2025 following a collision that occurred in Watson last month.
The two occupants were transported to hospital with the male driver sadly dying in hospital yesterday (Sunday 13 April 2025).
This brings the ACT road toll for 2025 to 3 persons.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Earlier 23rd March 2025:
Two elderly persons have been rescued from their vehicle following a single vehicle crash in Watson this afternoon.
At about 3.45pm, ACT Emergency Services responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Antil Street and the Federal Highway.
Fire crews from two stations worked at both sides of the vehicle with hydralic tools to gain access to the patients.
Both patients were freed about 45 minutes later and they were transported to hospital in stable conditions.
The Federal Highway was closed southbound for several hours while police investigated the scene.
